Wednesday Movie Matinee

Come to the library at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5 to see The Theory of Everything, which tells the story of renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne), who falls deeply in love with fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde (Felicity Jones), but then, receives an earth-shattering diagnosis at age 21. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.

Book Club

Come to the library at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11 to discuss Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen by Jane Hawking, which focuses on her marriage to renowned British physicist Stephen Hawking, her years caring for his physical needs, his rise to prominence as a scientist and world celebrity, their bitter divorce, and later reconciliation.


The Hubble Space Telescope

Come to the library at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope with Michelle Nichols from the Adler Planetarium, who will present some of the well-known, and not-so-well-known, images and science from the last 25 years of Hubble’s mission. Michelle also will provide a sneak peek at Hubble’s 2018 replacement: the James Webb Space Telescope.
