Adding Native Plants to Your Garden

Come to the library at 6:30pm on Wednesday, May 13 to hear Janine Catchpole, past-president and current Director of the Illinois Native Plant Society, present about adding native plants into the home landscape.

Wednesday Movie Matinee

Come to the library at 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 6 to watch “It Should Happen to You,” in which a slightly daffy New York model named Gladys Glover (Judy Holliday), with an urge to be famous, rents a huge billboard overlooking New York’s Columbus Circle and puts her name on it. Co-stars Peter Lawford and Jack Lemmon in his first film.

National Poetry Month ------ Wednesday, April 1 through Thursday, April 30

  • Poetry Hunt for kids in preschool through fifth grade
    Starting April 1st, poetry will be hiding in the children’s area. Pick up a Poetry Month Hunt form at the YS Help Desk, and start searching! If you can find most of the hidden poetry, you will win a prize. North Riverside residents only.


  • Interactive Poetry Contest for tweens / teens in sixth grade through high school 
    Starting April 1st, get creative and you could win a prize! See the poster in the Young Adult department for details. Winners will be notified by May 6. North Riverside residents only.
