CUPCAKE DECORATING Wednesday, February 8 - 6:30 p.m. Come and learn fun new ways to decorate cupcakes instead of just frosting them the old fashioned way. Sue Peltzer of Delicious Creations Bakery will show you how to make character faces, cute scenes, and other ideas for various themes using different tools and techniques. You'll go home with a tasty cupcake, too!
LIBRARY BOOK CLUB Tuesday, February 14 - 7:00 p.m. The book we will be discussing is, "Shanghai Girls" by Lisa See. You may reserve your copy at the Circulation Desk. WEDNESDAY MOVIE MATINEE
This Spring, we will show a movie on the first Wednesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. Sponsored by the North Riverside Friends of the Library. The schedule is as follows:
March 7: UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN (2003), 113 min., Rated PG-13. While on vacation, a just-divorced writer (Diane Lane) buys a villa in Tuscany on a whim, hoping it will be the start of a change for the better in hr life. A new life includes a new love that gives her the fresh start she was looking for. Join our Book Club as they discuss the book by Frances Mayes on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m.
April 4: THE BENNY GOODMAN STORY (1955), 117 min., Rated G. Steve Allen plays the clarinet-playing "King of Swing" in this story of the famed bandleader's rise to the top. The story follows the innovative musician from his childhood in Chicago to his historic concert in Carnegie Hall in 1938. Guest appearances by musicians Gene Krupa, Harry James, Lionel Hampton, Ben Pollack, Teddy Wilson, and Edward "Kid" Ory. Presented in honor of National Jazz Appreciation Month.
May 2: THE HELP (2011), 146 min., Rated PG-13. Set in Mississippi during the 1960s, Skeeter is a southern society girl who returns from college determined to become a writer. Instead, she turns her friends' lives, and their small town upside down, when she decides to interview the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families. Based on the book by Kathryn Stockett.
