After School Book Club

The After School Book Club continues with three exciting book selections:

Books will be provided.  Enjoy book discussions, crafts, and treats.    Registration is open to North Riverside residents in 2nd grade and up.

Family Bingo & Loteria Familia

North Riverside residents age 3 and older.  Children under 7 must be accompanied with an adult.

Bring the whole family for an hour of classic fun!  All ages can play Bingo (with number cards) and Loteria (with picture cards) and win prizes!

Poetry Month

Stop by the YS Help Desk (lower level) anytime this month to pick up a Pocket Poem – a poem that fits in your pocket to share with family and friends.  And don’t forget to come to the Poetry Jam on Saturday, April 29…lots of wacky poetic fun awaits!  (And treats, etc.!)

Read to a Dog

Did you know that dogs are great listeners?  The PAWSitive Therapy Troupe is back with sweet, book-loving dogs who would love to spend time with you.  For independent readers.  Sign up for up to three 15-minute time slots.  Pre-registration is a must!  Register online at or at the Help Desk in the lower level.

Celebrate poetry month with treats and all-out craziness!  All kinds of poetically fantastic activities await!  Grades 2 and up are welcome!

Finals aren’t fun, but tasty snacks and other goodies can help!  Available all day at the YS Help Desk to North Riverside high school students with ID.


Junior Volunteers – 4th and 5th grade

North Riverside residents in 4th or 5th grade:  join the Junior Volunteers! Requirements:  attend a 20-minute training session to learn the basics of board book cleaning and shelf reading, and volunteer at least three times in the next six months.   Additional opportunities will be offered to “seasoned” Junior Volunteers.  See the YS Help Desk for more information.


Tween / Teen Year-Round Volunteering – 6th — 12th grade
