Introducing Zinio!

Zinio is a remarkable new service offered to North Riverside Library card holders, where you can download and read your favorite magazines on your computer, tablet, or smartphone both at home and on the go!

Better yet, you can check out as many issues as you want and keep them for as long as you like – nothing to renew and nothing to return! It’s just like subscribing to the magazine, except that it’s digital and free!

Want to get started? Follow the instructions below and go to the library’s Zinio Collection page!

Getting Started with Zinio

In order to access Zinio, you will set up two separate accounts: a library Zinio Collection account and a Zinio.com account. These two accounts require the same email address, but you may choose two different passwords if you desire.

  1. Go to the library’s Zinio Collection page. Browse the collection and click on a magazine to check out. Click on the “Checkout” button.
  2. If you are using Zinio for the first time, click on “Create New Account.” Then, enter the barcode on the back of your library card without spaces and click “Next.” You will be asked to enter your email and create a password for your account. The password must be 7 characters, including both letters and numbers.
  3. After creating your account, click “Confirm Check Out.” Your magazine is now checked out and available to read at Zinio.com. Click “Start Reading” to open Zinio.com.
  4. When the Zinio window opens, you will be prompted to log in. Since you are a new user, you’ll first need to click on “Create an Account.” Enter the required information and click “Submit.”
  5. Your personal reading account is now activated. You can view the magazine that you checked out by clicking the “Your Library” link at the top of the page. Simply click on the magazine’s cover to begin reading it in your web browser.

More Newspapers and Magazines Online:

Electronic access to many newspapers and periodicals is available through the library’s research databases. These databases can be accessed through our Online Resources page. You may use these databases at the library or at home by signing in with the barcode on the back of your library card. A good place to start is the Newsbank database, which offers full-text articles from the Chicago Sun-Times going back to 1986 as well as Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, and many other magazines.

Print Subscriptions:

North Riverside Library subscribes to over 80 popular magazines and several local and national newspapers. The library keeps current newspapers for one month and back issues of magazines for two years. For a complete list of magazines and newspapers available at the library, click here.
