Young Adult Corner

OCTOBER

Teen Read Week October 17 – 23:  Books With Beat @ Your Library.    Each day residents ages 12 – 21 check out a book, they can submit an entry for our end-of-week drawing to win paperbacks.  Winners will be notified by Oct. 29.

  

NOVEMBER 

Friday, Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m.:  Michael Kett’s HAUNTED PARLOUR for young adults in 6th grade and older.  A time travel, theatrical experience like no other!  Audience will assist a Victorian ghost hunter as he attempts to make contact with a famous Naperville ghost.

Reserve your spooky spot at the YS Help Desk – audience limit of 24, per Mr. Kett.

 

Nov. 12 through Nov. 18:  Harry Potter Movie Marathon!Chess Open Play Session.  Watch all the HP movies all over again to get ready for the 11/19 theater release of his latest, HP #7 – Part One.

 

Fri. 11/12 at 3:15 p.m.:  Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2 hr 32 min) PG

Sat. 11/13 at 1:30 p.m.: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2 hr 41 min) PG

Mon. 11/15 at 3:30 p.m.: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2 hr 21 min) PG

Tues. 11/16 at 3:30 p.m.: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2 hr 37 min) PG-13

Wed  11/17 at 3:30 p.m.: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2 hr 18 min) PG-13

Thu. 11/18 at 3:30 p.m.: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2 hr 33 min) PG

3rd Grade and older welcome!  Space is limited; please register.

Saturday, December 4  from 10:30 to 1:30 p.m.:  BBC Hollydays Gingerbread Houses

 

***REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS MONDAY, NOVEMBER 29 at 8:00 p.m.***

 

Cash or check deposit (per house) is required at registration.

Residents: $15 (the library covers the remaining $20);

Non-residents: $35 (full price – increased from last year).

 

The following restrictions from BBC apply:  children under 6 may not attend; an adult (age 18 or older) must partner with children ages 6 to 11; children age 12 and older may work independently on a house. Only two people, maximum, can work on a house.

 

PLEASE NOTE:  Anyone (resident or non-resident) registering AFTER the deadline:  $35 per house (full price).   Please note: Registration after the deadline may not be possible, depending on space and materials

The specific purpose of the General Educational Development (GED) Tests is the measurement of the educational development of adults who have not completed their formal high school education. Adults may earn a High School Equivalency Certificate and thus qualify for admission to colleges or other educational institutions, meet educational requirements for employment or promotion, satisfy educational qualifications for induction into the armed services, fulfill requirements of local or state licensing boards, or gain personal satisfaction.
